How to Get Promoted

The pitch is the promotion. Worming from Home opens with a boss who has finally put you in line for senior financial analyst after six years of junior work. Everything else — sheets, hats, illegal trades — is either fuel or camouflage for that title. This page is the how-to-get and how-to-look-ready guide. The jobs that generate the packet are in How to Complete Tasks. The money engine is the stock market. The spend order is the upgrade ranking.

What “ready” means in this joke

You cannot attend a glass-office interview. You can raise output, keep the webcam innocent, and buy the toys that make the next card faster. Launch copy and the press kit repeat the same verbs: upgrade, invest, earn the promotion. Playthroughs add a perk tree the in-game helper describes as a pile of unique perks with extra points as you level, plus shop training items for higher tiers. Treat that speech as the game teaching its own RPG layer. You will not be promoted by hats alone, and you will not be promoted by a single lucky trade if the board is still full of red cards.

Output first

Clear the board. A senior packet that starts with missed mail is still a junior packet. Build a commute loop that can finish two mails and a sheet without visiting the void. If a card is gated behind advanced spreadsheets, that is a shop and perk problem, not a motivation problem. Buy the training item, take the perk, then come back. The getting started loop is the junior version of this; promotion is the same loop with fewer excuses.

Optics second

You are secretly a worm. The job is to make sure nobody important confirms it. That is why the webcam, the intern, and the video call exist as comedy and as fail states. Do not sit on the camera. Do not let an intern (once you have purchased one) become a witness you cannot control. Hang up when the card allows it. If a coworker-flirt beat from the worm-life systems is optional, skip it during a review week. Worm-Life Balance is for the hours the boss is not watching.

Perks and training items

The helper’s perk speech is now a full page: Perk Tree and Training. Use that as a budget rule: do not dump early points into jokes if a branch clearly names spreadsheets, stocks, or movement. If those nodes are still dark, you are not in the senior conversation yet.

We will not invent exact perk names or costs that the live tree can change in a patch. After a balance pass, check launch notes.

Interns and other people-shaped purchases

The shop has included an intern as a purchasable, and launch-week roundups joked about supervising a pile of them. An intern is not a second player. The game is still single-player. An intern is a desk actor you pay for — comedy, maybe labor, maybe a liability on camera. Buy one after the desk and the mouse make you faster, not before you can type your own name. Rank it among other toys on the upgrade list rather than assuming it is the promotion.

Insider trading is not a personality

The Steam page brags that you can use insider information to illegally game the market. That is a system, not a skip button for the title. A crashed portfolio with a clean board is still a story the boss can tell. A fat portfolio with missed sheets is the other story. Use stocks to fund the shop that makes work faster, then return to the board. Details sit on the stock market page.

A promotion week checklist

  1. Empty the board before you open the shop.
  2. Spend on speed (desk, mouse, training) before drip. Hats have their own cosmetics ranking.
  3. Take perk points into the work branches that are still gated.
  4. Keep the webcam dark.
  5. Make one controlled trade, not five panic trades.
  6. If the helper still talks like you are junior, you are junior. Do another day.

If the title still will not move

You may be missing a gated sheet, a shop item, or a story beat that only fires after a set of cards. You are not missing a second player and you are not missing a code. Confirm there is no new patch note, then go back to tasks. The senior slot is a joke about staying in the chair. Stay in the chair, just with better physics.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How long does the promotion take?

There is no public official hour count. Treat it as a loop of board clears, shop gates, and perk unlocks rather than a single cutscene.

Do hats help me get promoted?

They help you look like a worm with taste. Output, perks, and desk upgrades move the title. Rank drip on the cosmetics list.

Should I buy an intern for the promotion?

After the desk and mouse. An intern is a shop actor in a single-player game, not a second pair of hands you can queue with.

Can I skip work and only trade stocks?

Not if you want the packet to look like a senior analyst wrote it. Fund the shop with trades, then finish the board.
