Worming from Home How to Beat the Worm Hole

A purchased portal, a shadow realm, and jumps that hate your charge bar.

Worm Hole Platforming

The worm hole is the game answering every comment that wanted more worm platforming. It is not the campaign. It is a shop portal that sucks you into a dark box course and spits you back onto the desk if you live. This page is the how-to-find, how-to-complete, and how-to-stop-buying-it-by-accident guide. Desk movement still starts in How to Play. The purchase competes with real work tools on the upgrade ranking.

How to find it

Official developer shorts say you buy the portal in the shop. Next Fest notes also attached the worm hole to a large demo update, alongside smartphone cosmetics. If you cannot see a portal on the desk, you have not bought it yet or you have not walked far enough across a bigger desk. It will not appear because of a promo code. Look in the shop after a bonus, then commute to the object the way you commute to the phone.

What happens when you go in

The short describes a suck-and-spit into a shadow realm of glowing boxes. Jumps are the whole language. The developer, who had been playing daily for a year, still called normal mode quite difficult. That is your warning. Treat the first run as a scout: where are the gaps, where does a charged hop overshoot, where is the lip that dumps you to a restart.

This is the one place the main-desk advice (“don’t fight it like a precision platformer”) gets inverted. Here you do want precision. Charge toward the next box, not toward the camera. Land with enough body on the platform that a wiggle does not become a void. If you are still learning to hit a single key on the office keyboard, finish Getting Started before you spend the bonus on this.

Hard mode is rage with a rule-set

Clearing the course once unlocks hard mode. The official description: you no longer see how long you have been charging a jump, and any fail sends you back to the start, “like any good rage bait game.” That is the whole patch note. Do not enter hard mode to practice. Practice on normal until the charge muscle memory exists without a bar. Then enter hard mode as a separate hobby, the same way people replay a kaizo stage after the story.

If you came here from a promotion checklist, leave. Hard mode does not type emails. It does not impress the boss unless you are filming a clip. The senior title lives in How to Get Promoted.

Loadout that actually helps

Anything that makes charged hops more honest on the main desk will feel better in the hole. Gym time from worm-life balance is a maybe. Hats are a no. A larger desk only helps you reach the portal, not the boxes. Do not buy the intern as a platforming partner; they will not enter with you, and the game is still single-player.

Controller or Deck is a reasonable pick here because analog charge can feel kinder than a keyboard tap. The Verified Deck layout already includes the actions. If a jump bind is mushy, change that one bind; do not rebuild the whole scheme in the realm.

A first-clear plan

  1. Buy the portal only after the mouse and desk are not ruining real work.
  2. Enter, die, look, exit if the shop refunds nothing — you already paid for the lesson.
  3. Repeat normal until you can name the scary gap out loud.
  4. Stop for the day while you can still enjoy the office.
  5. Unlock hard mode later on purpose.

Optional means optional

The worm hole is a side dish with a loud personality. Steam still sells a job sim. If the portal tilts you into refund-thinking, ignore it and go back to tasks. The rest of the desk will still print jokes, stocks, and hats. Official store links stay on Links. If a patch changes the course, it belongs in launch notes.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do I unlock the worm hole?

Buy the portal from the shop, then physically enter it on the desk. It is not a story-gated second campaign.

Is the worm hole required for the promotion?

No. It is optional platforming. The title still wants board work, perks, and optics.

What does hard mode change?

You lose the visible jump-charge cue, and a fail restarts the course from the beginning.

Should I buy this before a bigger desk?

Usually no. Rank it below work tools on the upgrade tier list unless you came specifically for rage jumps.
