Worming from Home System Requirements
PC, Mac, and Deck floors so the gift does not bounce.
Worming from Home is a 3D ragdoll desk sim, not a 200 MB mobile client. Check this page before you gift it. Controls after install are the controls reference. The buy/skip argument is the review. Store link is on Links.
Windows
Steam lists a 64-bit processor and operating system, with Windows 10 as the minimum OS. Recommended text on the store is thin — it repeats the 64-bit requirement more than it names a GPU. Launch-week machines that run other indie 3D toys will run this. If you are on Windows 8 or a 32-bit install, you are below the floor.
On-disk size for the Windows depot is about 3.90 GB, with a download a bit over 700 MB. The install directory name is Worming from Home. The executable is Worming from Home.exe.
macOS
Minimum: macOS 11 Big Sur. Recommended: macOS 14 Sonoma with Apple silicon. Steam flags macos64 and macosapplesilicon. Older store warnings about Catalina-era 32-bit clients do not describe this 64-bit Mac build. If you are on Intel Mac hardware, try before you gift; the recommended line is explicitly Apple silicon.
Mac depot size is similar to Windows (about 3.88 GB on disk). Launch executable lives inside Worming from Home macOS.app.
Steam Deck and controllers
Valve marked the game Verified after an August 2026 test: default controller config reaches all functionality, in-game glyphs match the device, interface text is legible, default graphics preset performs, Proton-stable is the recommended runtime, no extra keyboard overlay, no internet required for single-player. SteamOS compatibility is listed as compatible. DualShock and DualSense are called out in hardware categories, USB and Bluetooth both represented in the flags.
If a community layout appears, treat it as optional. Verified means you should boot the default first.
What you do not need
- An always-on internet connection for the campaign.
- A second copy for a friend to play beside you. The campaign is single-player only.
- A Linux native build at launch. Deck is using compatibility, not a separate Linux depot in the launch table.
- A high-refresh esports GPU. This is a desk.
Saves and Cloud
Windows saves: %USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/Zach and Mason/Worming from Home, pattern *.json. macOS override: ~/Library/Application Support/Zach and Mason/Worming from Home. Steam Cloud is enabled, with a quota around 95 MB and a small max file count. Do not park huge clips in that folder. Family Sharing is enabled, so a household can take turns being the worm without buying twice — still one worm at a time.
Languages and audio
English has full audio. French, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Russian, and Simplified Chinese have interface and subtitles. Pick the language in Steam before you complain that the helper sounds like a different office.
Accessibility flags on the store
Color alternatives, custom volume controls, stereo sound, playable without timed input. Combined with full controller support, that is a friendly indie checklist. It does not delete task clocks. It does mean you should not expect hidden QTEs.
Gift checklist
- OS at or above the floor.
- 4 GB free, not 400 MB.
- They know it is a ragdoll comedy, not Excel.
- They know it is single-player.
- Point them at Getting Started after the download.
If a patch raises the floor, it will be noted on launch notes. Until then, these are the launch store numbers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Does it run on Steam Deck?
Yes. It is Verified, with a complete default controller config and a performant default graphics preset.
Can I play offline?
Single-player does not require internet after install. Steam still handles licenses the way Steam always does.
Where are the saves?
Windows: LocalLow/Zach and Mason/Worming from Home JSON files. Mac: Application Support with the same studio folder name.
Is there a Linux version?
No native Linux depot at launch. Deck play uses Valve's compatibility stack.
