Worming from Home Launch Notes

Clock-in day, the intro discount, and what the store page actually promised.

Launch Notes

Worming from Home left the wishlist and became a real Steam app at 15:00 UTC on 4 September 2026. Developers Zach Northrop and Mason Sabharwal published under Northrop’s name. The launch news post is the tone of the whole project: clock in, you are a worm, here is the final trailer, yours wormily. This page is the factual launch packet. How to play is not here — use Getting Started and How to Play.

What launched

A single-player physics job sim. Full controller support. Steam Achievements (32). Steam Cloud. Family Sharing. Color alternatives and custom volume. Playable without QTE-style timed input. Windows 10 64-bit and macOS 11 minimum, macOS 14 plus Apple silicon recommended. Steam Deck Verified on a late-August test build, with SteamOS compatibility called out as compatible. No Linux native depot in the launch table. Single-player only. No advertised DLC on the storefront the day it went live.

Languages on the store: English with full audio, plus French, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Russian, and Simplified Chinese for interface and subtitles. This wiki covers English, French, German, and Spanish. Japanese, Russian, and Simplified Chinese are game languages, not wiki languages.

Price and bundles

US list sat at $7.99 with a 25% introductory offer into the $5.99 range, advertised through mid-September 2026 on SteamDB’s price view. Regional prices vary. Launch-day bundles with other small games appeared as 10% extra-off packages; they are store marketing, not required DLC. If a bundle names another sim, it does not change this game’s save.

How we got here

Announcement trailers in January 2026 sold the boss call and the ragdoll. The demo on 30 January taught typing, the board, and a shop that ended on a bigger desk. June Next Fest added a demo update with the worm hole and smartphone cosmetics. July’s Secret Sauce slot locked 4 September. The 28 August note celebrated about 75,000 wishlists and the Deck green check. That sequence is why launch-week players already knew the joke. The full game is the joke with a promotion frame and a paid shop.

First-week technical picture

SteamDB showed a public branch bump on 5 September 2026, which is normal for a two-person launch, not a crisis headline. Install on Windows is about 3.9 GB on disk, download a bit over 700 MB. Saves: %USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/Zach and Mason/Worming from Home on Windows, with a Mac override under Application Support. Cloud quota is listed in the 95 MB range with a small file cap — do not dump screenshots into the save folder and expect Steam to care.

If the first patch is about falling through the desk, mouse yeets, or a Deck bind, treat it as a controls update. If it is about shop text or a perk gate, treat it as a tier list update. If someone says it added multiplayer, check the store categories before you believe a comment.

Reception snapshot, not a score

Steam opened Very Positive on a small-but-loud sample. Press lines already on the store (GameSpew, gameranx, EddieVR) were in on the bit. GameSpot’s launch feature argued the ragdoll is nicer to drive than the meme suggests. Peak CCU on day one lived in the high hundreds with a Twitch spike behind it. That is “the joke landed,” not “live service numbers.”

What you should do this week

  1. Buy it on Steam if the pitch works. Store link sits on Links.
  2. Run the getting started hour.
  3. Spend the intro-discount leftover on the game, not on a third bundle you will not play.
  4. If the intro price is gone, $8 is still the honest number in the review.
  5. Watch Updates if your build ID moves.

The launch trailer on Steam is the store video. The YouTube ID on this page is the widely mirrored announcement trailer from the trailer channels — same boss-call joke, useful if you have not seen the pitch. We will not invent a second ID for a host that only embeds on IGN.

Hardware detail: system requirements. Optional pain: worm hole. Money: stock market.
