The Steam demo taught most of the joke before the 4 September 2026 launch. This page is the timeline and the delta: what the sample contained, where it stopped, and what the full game is for. Demo timeline
- 23–25 January 2026 — announcement trailer on the official channel and press mirrors (IGN, GameTrailers).
- 30 January 2026 — Steam demo. Playthroughs from special edd, Ctop, Drae, ScrapMan, and others all hit the same first day: password sticky note, task board, shop tease.
- June 2026 Next Fest — demo update notes: the worm hole, a smartphone for cosmetics, Mac support, bug fixes.
- 16 July 2026 — Secret Sauce showcase, release date 4 September, new trailer.
- 28 August 2026 — about 75k wishlists, Steam Deck Verified.
- 4 September 2026 — full Steam launch, intro discount window on the store (listed through 18 September at launch).
If you still have the demo installed, the store page for the full game is the download you want. The demo was a sample, not a live-ops shard.
What the demo already contained
Login as a typing exam. A task board with mail, sheets, and phone jobs. A shop that listed worm weights, reading nook, mouse, hats, webcam, intern, drinking bird, trampoline, and a larger desk as a late tease. A Snake-style study minigame in the nook. A perk tree the helper described as 198 unique perks with extra points as you level, capped in the speech at seven bonus points from prior levels. Spreadsheet Wizard, Investor, and Dress to Impress as named early branches. The layoff sheet in F2. Height in inches copied off the world.
Several playthroughs end the sample the moment they buy the big desk. The helper or a continue prompt treats that furniture as the demo wall. That is why this wiki talks about the L-desk as a tease, not as a guaranteed first-hour buy in the full game. Rank it on the upgrade list against mouse and training.
What Next Fest added to the sample
The June update attached a portal that sucks you into a shadow-realm platformer, a smartphone cosmetics path, and Mac play. Those toys shipped into the full game. Hard mode on the hole still hides jump charge and restarts on fail. Smartphone drip is explained on hats. Mac floors are on system requirements.
What the full game is for
The promotion frame: six years as junior analyst, a boss who wants senior numbers, a packet that is output plus optics. More shop. More days. Thirty-two Steam Achievements. Steam Cloud. Should you play the demo in 2026?
If you already own the full game, no. If you are on the fence and the demo is still posted, five minutes of ragdoll will tell you more than a trailer. If five minutes feels like a bit that should have stayed a bit, trust that and skip the $8. The review is the buy/skip essay.

Did the worm hole ship in the full game?

Can I carry a demo save into the full game?
Treat saves as separate unless Steam Cloud on your account proves otherwise. The demo wall and the campaign are different products.
Was Mac in the first demo?
The January sample was Windows-first. Next Fest notes added Mac support to the demo in June 2026. The full game lists macOS 11 as the floor.
